Welcome, friend!

Jan-Kokott---Jan-Niklas-Kokott.png

I am participating in the 2015 "Escape from Alcatraz" Triathlon to raise funds for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

The Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis. Christopher Reeve's optimism and strength make me proud to be a part of Team Reeve and honor his legacy.

The race will be on June 7 (soon!) and I will face strong currents and
50° water temperatures on the 1.5-mile swim followed by an 18-mile bike ride and an 8-mile run.

Any contribution would mean the world.

Thank you so much for your support.
I couldn't do it without you.

Jan

Why Reeve?

Christopher Reeve as Superman was a hero of my youth and his accident had a big impact on me. An invincible man suddenly was tied to a wheelchair, but despite being paralyzed from the neck down came out even more powerful. His engagement for the disabled is an inspiration and made him a hero in real life, too.

The Race

"The course consists of a 1.5 mile (2.4 km) swim starting near Alcatraz Island, an 18 mile (29 km) bike ride, and an 8 mile (12.8 km) run. The run portion includes a notorious section called the "sand ladder" at mile five."

Me

I'm not a triathlete. In fact, I wouldn't necessarily consider myself an athlete at all, but I have been training almost every day in the past 5 months – rain or snow, to prepare for this challenge. I promise to give it my all.
